• A tall ceramic vase featuring a sculpted portrait and handwritten text etched into the surface. The portrait is a smiling face painted brown with long curled eyelashes and loops of braided black hair. The portrait represents Patti Labelle. The artist has etched a long quote from the musician onto the side of the vase. Except for the head and the space around the quote, the entire vase is painted in a metallic black glaze.
  • The same sculpture photographed from another angle. Here, the focus is an additional smiling portrait head sculpted on the other side of the vessel. The face is painted brown, and has long curling eyelashes and shorter spikes of black hair.
  • The back view of the Patti Labelle Vessel. Two faces are visible in profile on either side of the vessel. A hand-incised inscription centered on the piece reads: “God doesn’t do the work for you. He does the work through you. It’s not enough to look up, you must also look within. Patti Labelle.”
