About the Exhibition

Art has the uncanny ability to stretch, augment and collapse time. Whether it be through the referencing of ancient objects and histories, or a forecasting of worlds to come, the artist within their domain serves as an omnipotent shaper of both space and time.

Even seemingly simple choices such as the traditional materials an artist utilizes can speak to millennia-old lineages, or the use of modern materials which can be less encumbered by the past.

Taking its title from Iron Maiden’s 1986 album of the same name, Somewhere in Time convenes the work of twelve Bay Area-based artists working across drawing, painting, sculpture and textiles.

The exhibition is an exploration of the ways in which these individuals augment time through their work, using it as a medium in and of itself, pushing and pulling this construct to bend to their own designs.
