Being an artist as I am, it gives me great joy of doing art projects. My aunt, she was an artist herself, and she did ceramics. Whatever she could do, she would do it. My sister painted too. I inherited from that side of the family. It’s a family tradition.
I like being at NIAD because I have great friends here. I have a support system, and I’m also doing art. I’m doing a fashion project right now and I’ve done projects with paintings and also I’ve been making cards. I’ve gotten into the AAC [Artist Advisory Council] and it’s helping me to keep my feelings from being sad. I’d rather be happy doing my artwork, and I feel better about being around other people. My husband likes being here too and he’s an artist as well.
I am glad that my products can be either sold or in an art show. Speaking as an artist, whoever can support our community would be deeply appreciated. I do believe that our art is the most important thing. And I appreciate all the people that are here that help support our system here as a community.
