Artist Bio

Rae Lorvick-Patt (b.1996) is an artist based in the Bay Area. They joined NIAD in 2020 with an established drawing practice that fuses interior and exterior landscapes. As a keen observer of the natural world, Lorvick-Patt has shared that they “like looking at the outdoors from inside.” Accordingly, many of their works on paper feature faces that sprout flowers from within, positioned on the chin and forehead. These figures, often self-portraits, travel through exuberant environments to interact with loved ones, famous musicians, creatures, rainbows, and big skies.

A favorite among guest curators in NIAD’s virtual exhibition program, Lorvick-Patt’s work was also notably featured in Into the Brightness at the Oakland Museum of California in 2023. Several of their drawings were included in Now Presenting, a survey show of new artists staged in the Main Gallery at NIAD.
