Poetry Is Everywhere

About the Exhibition

Poetry isn’t just written words. It’s art. Visual poetry and words are artwork.

Art by different artists with different skills that put time and love and soul into their artwork. We’re creating different kinds of art, love is art. When I make a piece of art I feel like it has my love in it.

I’m free to do what I need to do. Everything is poetry, it's the only way I can express myself. Every time I walk around here or use the restroom, I’m inspired to make more art. I have a lot to learn, but I believe in myself.

We’re expressing ourselves, our inner feelings. Art is extravagant, it brings happiness to the whole community. It's an inspiration. Like, “did they do that? I can do that too.” Like in a church. It’s deep emotions. It’s not flat, it’s moving and growing. It’s different, it’s square but it doesn’t look square. Electrifying, scary, deep emotions and knowledge in the artwork everyday.

About the Artists

About the Organizers

The Artist Advisory Committee is a rotating group of NIAD artists who bring attention to the needs of the NIAD studio and its community, identify necessary change, and contribute to the vision of NIAD's future. The AAC provides a platform for artist leadership at the executive level of NIAD's operations. The intention, like that of NIAD's theory of art facilitation, is not to provide the AAC with tasks to solve or chores to complete, but rather to cede the power of concept and the naming of needs to the artists themselves.
