About NIAD Fashion

“The love for fashion spreads, and now the whole studio is thriving off of it," Studio Director and Fashion Facilitator Shantanice Swain explains. Members of the Fashion Class meet weekly to share inspiration and experiment with materials and construction techniques. Dozens of these wearable works of art had their runway debut in NIAD's Main Gallery this past September.

Featured artist Shantae Robinson describes her process for constructing Unique Garment (F0380), pictured above: "I sew all the lines down first, and then I add different colors and threads -- different red colors. Some circles I painted, and some I sewed down. I pick my colors with Shantanice. Somebody will really love to wear it -- I love it!”
