We long to remember our dreams upon waking
Landscapes formed of memory
Objects lose their shadow;
we become tourists of these spaces
And all that appears solid, it
It inevitably becomes vapor
These works gesture towards a material reality yet resist a fully solid form.
About Emily Chao
Emily Chao is an experimental filmmaker and independent curator based in the Bay Area. Her award-winning films have shown internationally and are distributed by Canyon Cinema. She is a co-programmer of Light Field, an international exhibition of moving image art on celluloid and a member of Black Hole Collective Film Lab in Oakland, CA. She is from San Jose, California and earned her MFA in Film/Video at the California Institute of the Arts.
