NIAD artist Xiomara Rosales at Little Hill Lounge

An incredible lineup of East Bay performers at Little Hill Lounge!

Suver (emo rock),

Dust Figures (brand new band!),

Grace Sings Sludge (solo pop),

Xiomara Rosales (songwriter from NIAD),

plus DJ M&M.

Since joining NIAD in 2019, Xiomara Rosales has emerged as a multi-media force in the NIAD community, practicing as a visual artist, screenplay and songwriter. A natural storyteller about human connections–and sometimes disconnections–Xiomara’s work often revolves around personal experiences. Her family, friends, and Japanese-Peruvian background play an important role in shaping her work, and the above quote by Aaron Polson is one that Xiomara repeatedly turns to for inspiration.

Xiomara writes her own songs, and also re-writes and alters songs by others. She describes her original music as a blend of pop and country music, as well as other genres. Hailing from a musical family, music is foundational to Xiomara: her father was a percussionist; her mother is a choreographer/dancer; and her step-mother is also a percussionist. Xiomara’s namesake is the Cuban Soprano Xiomara Alfaro.

Getting her message across is essential to her song writing. The songs are all written from her point of view, and based on events that actually happened. Reappearing themes include love, chasing one’s dreams, and embracing one’s true self. With the assistance of NIAD Studio Facilitator Jovi Vidal, Xiomara has recorded five original songs and has made music videos for two songs.
