About the Exhibition

That familiar feeling one has upon entering a space. The muscle memory in opening the door. The sound of the latch. The unchanging shadows and smells. The echo of your footsteps on the tiled floor.

They say déjà-vu is a phenomenon of dreams not remembered until they come true. But could it be that we have lived this all before? Or that we are living on a parallel plane, and that our paths are somehow cosmically converging? Whatever the explanation might be, it’s that familiar feeling that reassures us we are on the path meant just for us.

...

This is the second installment of the Dreams Not Remembered exhibition series, which highlights the artwork of NIAD artists at the community colleges that they formerly attended. The underlying theme is about familiarity. About returning to our foundations, and paying homage to that former experience, while appreciating the present and looking towards the future.
