Looking Forward from "Projects: Marlon Mullen"

Looking Forward from "Projects: Marlon Mullen"
As Projects: Marlon Mullen closes on Sunday, April 20 at MoMA, Marlon Mullen is completing work on a vibrant new painting that captures our sentiments exactly.

Untitled (Horizon) was started in November, a time of anticipation for the many new conversations, opportunities, and visibility that were realized with the December opening of Projects: Marlon Mullen, the first solo exhibition at MoMA for an artist with known intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
Marlon is putting the finishing touches on the painting this April, as we continue to reflect on the exhibition's extraordinary five months, the revelatory programming that accompanied the show, and the groundbreaking access and engagement work that ensured that the exhibition, and Marlon's practice, connected with audiences at MoMA and far beyond.

As we consider the horizon Marlon indicates in this new work, the incredible new experiences surrounding this exhibition have been joined by our gratitude for the long-term relationships that have made this moment possible. Ann Temkin, Alexandra Morrison, Theresa Rodewald, Emma Jaromin, Amy Adams, Jasmin Tsou, Bridget Donahue, Andrés Cisneros-Galindo, Liam Golden, and April Johnson, we thank you for your vision, wisdom, and insight.
And to Marlon's collectors and champions, you are numerous and numinous - we thank you for helping us chart the horizon for NIAD, for Marlon, and for all the artists redefining contemporary art at progressive studios nationwide and around the world. You are the future of this field, against uncertainty and into what comes next.

With gratitude and toward new horizons,
Amanda
