NIAD is thrilled to present works by Sylvia Fragoso, Willie Harris, Karen May, and Donald Walker at Felix Art Fair 2026, whose work explores repetition and layering.

Willie Harris (1956-unknown) built up his paintings with so many layers of paint that they became sculptural objects. Sylvia Fragoso (b. 1962), NIAD's longest-tenured artist, creates ceramic towers modeled after spiritual spaces and family homes she remembers, including her grandmother's house. Each segment is the width of her hand, and most towers relate directly to her own height. Karen May (b. 1950), whose work is in the collections of SFMOMA and OMCA, works across multiple media including collage, ceramics, drawing, and poetry, often weaving together her family's initials and reworking found images with her own additions. May’s detournements will be accompanied by Donald Walker’s works on paper—his prolific drawings featuring figures and long strands of letters, aesthetically seeming to mix influences from Mexican folk art, ancient sculpture, and cartoons into compositions that feel both serious and playful. These artists return to signature motifs and build up layers in their work, each piece shaped by daily life in the studio.
