After Albers

NIAD artists Carlota Rodriguez and Janay Futch are included in after Albers at 120710 in Berkeley, curated by Mel Prest. The exhibition connects the work of sixteen contemporary artists to themes Josef Albers spent his life investigating — permutation, geometry, and the interaction of color. Working across humble materials like yarn and reclaimed wood as well as photography and oil paint, the artists share an investigation into color theory, abstraction, and modularity. Together, their works interact with strange harmony, resonating into dimensions beyond painting and sculpture.

Opening reception: Saturday, August 22, 4–7 PM
Free abstract drawing session: Sunday, August 30, 2–3:30 PM, led by Mel Prest and artist Barry Beach
