A quick and important COVID-19 update (from Amanda Jane Eicher, our Executive Director) in regards to the Art Center:
Until at least April 6, NIAD Art Center will remain closed for artists and the public as a part of Bay Area Shelter in Place orders. We will continue to monitor public health advisories from Contra Costa County and Regional Center of the East Bay for further guidance.
However, as essential service providers, NIAD staff are working both off-site and – until March 27 – in very limited numbers on-site to design service provision for artists at home. Our goal is to be 100% off-site by the end of next week, with distance programs in place for artists, until the Shelter in Place order is lifted.
While we miss seeing our artists and community members at NIAD, we are taking this time to develop new ways to remain connected, creative, healthy, and safe. I am confident that what our community learns now will enable us to reach more artists – and NIAD’s community – once we return to daily programs at NIAD.
Your support for NIAD and other progressive art studios makes it possible for us to continue providing services in this new environment. We are so thankful for our community – together, we will keep growing and learning through this challenging and unpredictable time.
