Join us for an Artists in Conversation for our exhibition “Soft Material” with artists Shantae Robinson and Karen May, with Moderator Nan Collymore.
“Soft Material” is a collaborative garment-construction project between artists who have an interest in and connection with fashion and textiles, as well as the corporeal, the body, and performativity. The program supports and connects artists living with disabilities whose communal studios were severely interrupted by the pandemic. The project is co-organized by Karen May, NIAD Art Center and Soft Material with artists from NIAD, Creative Growth and Elbow Room.
“Soft Material” is up at the Berkeley Art Center gallery from August 18 through September 3. The gallery will be closed on Sunday, August 28. Regular gallery hours: Wednesday through Sundays, 11AM–5PM weekly; no appointment necessary.
