On Tuesday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 25, please join NIAD Art Center and our artists for our latest art workshop, “Stamps.”
Directed by Oakland artist Dawline-Jane Oni-Eseleh, the workshop explores ways of creating stamps using soft cut carving material. Work alongside NIAD artists to design and carve your own stamps. The stamps can be composed into a substrate to create a larger printing block or used interchangeably as individual stamps on hand colored backgrounds (as opposed to numbered editioned prints that are prized for their uniformity). Based on free hand drawings created by the participants, the final stamps will be available to take home at the end of the workshop.
Dawline-Jane Oni-Eseleh is an Oakland- based visual artist whose current work is focused primarily on the shifting urban landscape. An avid observer and prolific photographer, she employs a vast catalog of visual notes and memories to create her work. A lover of materials and process, Dawline-Jane uses a range of media including relief print making, pen and ink, photo transfer and encaustic. In 2015, Oni-Eseleh was the subject of a solo exhibition at NIAD Art Center.
The cost for Dawline-Jane Oni-Eseleh’s “Stamps” is $100 for the two-day session (9:30 – 2:00 pm, both days with a one-hour lunch break) plus a $20 materials fee. Register.
