Marlon Mullen Paintings on Display in New York City

Marlon Mullen, Untitled, acrylic on canvas, 18x24 inches.
Although Marlon Mullen stopped working in our studio back in 2006, we hung onto his tremendous body of work hoping it would one day gain broader exposure. Occasionally it would catch the eye of a visiting curator or gallery director and an exhibition opportunity would result.
A few notable exhibits include a 2007 solo show at Jack Fischer Gallery in San Francisco and his more recent participation in Create at the Berkeley Museum of Art and Pacific Archive (BAM/PFA).
Two weeks ago we sent fourteen of Mullen’s paintings to Maccarone Gallery in New York City for the group exhibition After Shelley Duvall ’72. The exhibit was curated by Norwegian artist Bjarne Melgaard and will be on display until October 22. This is the first time Mullen’s work has appeared in New York and we hope it gets the attention it deserves. If you live there go check it out and tell us what you think.
Mullen recently visited NIAD for the opening reception of our latest exhibit Gang of Four +1, which features a few of his pieces alongside Jeremy Burleson, Attilio Crescenti and Willie Harris. Come on by and see the show!
