Susan Wise has used her interest in crafts to develop as an artist in all
mediums-quilting, basket weaving, painting, printmaking and ceramics.
She especially enjoys making quilts, both patchwork and embroidered.
She will embroider within and area to accentuate or contrast color and
design. Her works generally reflect her fascination with animals.
Wise was institutionalized for a large part of her youth and became
interested in crafts in vocational training. She also enjoys caring for
NIAD's garden, weeding and watering several hours a week.
Wise lives in a board-and-care home in Richmond and, over the course of the
year, visits her family several times.
