Michael Sutton is legally blind but not to color. Whether using paint, pastels, or pencil, his strokes fill his compositions with clouds of color that infuses the paper with light. In addition to drawing Sutton also enjoys clay modeling. The sensitivity of his hands can bring life to three dimensional forms despite his poor vision

Sutton began working on art at the age of 39 upon enrolling at NIAD in 1989. While he enjoys making art, Sutton also likes to project his beautiful singing voice during NIAD's weekly musical hour. One of his favorite songs is Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash.
