Ray Brown - Portrait

Originally from Texas and born in 1957, Ray
Brown is a relative newcomer to NIAD. Since
arriving one year ago he has compiled a large body of work resulting from his very ambitious work habits. Ray doesn’t waste too much time at NIAD and when he’s not making art he’s proudly showing it off to visitors and staff.

Just like his work ethic, Ray Brown’s artistic aspirations are not meager. He chooses to work in a variety of mediums including painting, drawing, and ceramics. His choice of subject matter varies depending on the medium but overall Ray typically depicts birds, houses, and boats in a camouflaged field of intense color.

In addition to making art at NIAD Ray also enjoys being a mentor to some of the younger NIAD artists, making him a valuable asset in our creative community in addition to being a wonderful artist.
